Odysseus' Longing
by David Claudon
Stand with me at the doorway,
as you do.
And hold me in your arms
Listening to our breath,
Being aware of your arms around me
And mine around you.
Stand with me at the doorway
Welcoming me home
And let me savor the moment
Of your body against my body
Of your soul against my soul...
Two hearts beating in silence,
Two souls wrapped in the wings of the pause.
Stand with me at the doorway
And realize that for this moment in time
We are together,
We love one another,
We are a we.
Stand with me at the doorway
And welcome me home.
